Sometimes, CCTV systems need to be serviced. It’s better to catch issues before you have a lapse in security. Let’s look at some of the most common signs that it’s time to have your CCTV system services.

5 Common Issues with CCTV Systems

1. No Power to Cameras

If one or more of your cameras stops working, you need to have your CCTV system serviced immediately. This could be a problem with the lead to the cameras or a problem with the actual camera.

Before the security breach is discovered, make sure you get your CCTV system services.

2. IP Cameras not Being Discovered

Another common issue that means you probably need to have your CCTV system service is IP cameras not being discovered by your system. If you cannot ping your cameras, it’s time to have your system serviced.

3. Image Quality isn’t Great

If you are having issues with the quality of the image provided by cameras, it might be time to have your system serviced. CCTV cameras need to provide a high-quality image. If you’re not getting the same quality you are used to, it’s time to have your system serviced.

While this could be an issue with one of the cameras, it could also be a monitor issue. Having your CCTV system serviced will help you get it back to the quality image you need.

4. Wire Wear and Tear

If you have a wired CCTV system and you can see wear and tear on the wires, it’s time to have your system serviced. Wires may become worn out or frayed, which can cause bigger issues. Sometimes, connectors become loose or wires become loose, which causes bigger issues.

5. Camera Won’t Focus Properly

Sometimes, one of your cameras is out of focus and you cannot seem to get it in focus. The auto-iris might not be adjusting properly. If this happens, it’s time to have your CCTV system serviced.

A few other things you might notice that mean your CCTV system needs to be serviced include:

  • Dirty cameras
  • Physically damaged cameras
  • Coaxial connectors are loose
  • Power isn’t consistent throughout your system
  • Any type of image issue with your cameras

If you notice any of these issues, getting your CCTV system serviced is a good idea.
